i think i'm going to call her big blue.
this last weekend i went running around town with a friend.
lunch... a little shopping... when she says... let's go by laurie's.
she'd mentioned it before but...
i could not for the life of me remember if i had ever been.
the minute we pulled up... "ohhhhhh... this IS laurie's"!
though i had passed by many times when we lived here... i had never been in.
crazy... for never going in!
c r a z y !
it is loaded with goodness!
and really... for all different kinds of tastes and styles.
furniture... lots of it.
bedding... decorative pieces... and oh the mirrors!
they even carry my favorite custom upholstery line!
when i saw her... i looked at my friend and said "i think i might pass out".
i really did.
it was one of those... "it's SO me" moments!
let me remind you... we're still in the tiny apartment...
our house isn't even built yet BUT...
i tell ya... i just knew this was ThE perfect piece.
i have some other "distressed/aged" pieces...
some are authentically old... and some are new... just made from old things.
this one is a bit different...
it's a new piece... made to look old.
i have to say... i love the smooth as silk finish.
and big blue... she's built like a tank.
like my friend said...
"if a tornado comes... just climb in here... this thing's not going anywhere".
i called the hubby right away...
asked if he'd please look at the plans... check on that wall space i had in mind.
the thing... i am really funny about symmetry so it had to be just so.
it had to line up with something... where i was thinking or... it just wouldn't work.
not feeling certain... needing to see the plans first hand...
i had to walk away.
reminding myself... it's just a piece of furniture carissa.
once i got home... was able to sit down...
measure out the dimensions... talk it over...
i was able to see... this piece... was simply meant to be!
after all... it's not everyday you come across ten foot long blue buffets!
and oh the storage she boasts!
they delivered her today!
well... after some tricky maneuvering to get her IN the apt.!
i thought she'd "soak up" the room... being so big... but actually...
she's a breath of fresh air.
a piece of furniture... among all the dreaded rental stuff... we can adore!
right now i'm sitting here thinking...
yes... i realize it's just a piece furniture...
i could certainly find something once we're in the house...
i don't "need" it.
how much i love my hubby for seeing how much i loved it!
it wasn't something i "had" to have... he wAntEd me to have it.
can you SEE the smile on my face?
