we had made it to paris!
not in my wildest dreams did i ever think i would be in paris.
in europe for that matter.
i don’t think any of us did.
we made it to the hotel… checked in… refreshed a tidge…
and headed out for a fun bite to eat!
i clearly remember this restaurant.
i had the most yummy pasta dish!
we got to experience the underground metro again.
this time it was LATE.
hardly anyone else down there.
scary if you ask me.
but we were all together… so it was all good.
i will say they have the public transportation down to a t in europe.
hop on… hop off… you’re there.
no car needed.
now… with kids… i know it would be a whole other bag of worms.
they close those doors whether you’re in or not… you have to move FAST!
the next day we set out to see what we could see.
the Place du Carrousel.
the detail… oh the detail… it was wow!
the statues were HUGE!
everywhere you looked… there was detail of some sort.
if it could be added… it was added.
another smart car… pretty smart in the city i have to say.
fits in anywhere.
the Notre Dame de Paris… was simply beautiful.
i was in total awe of the carvings!
we loved just walking the grounds.
next we were off to grab refreshments… we did that lots.
we LOVED our server.
had NO idea he was giving me bunny ears.
i had a couple bites of my crepes.
it was a wee bit chocolaty.
some of my fondest memories of our whole adventure…
just hanging out… BEing together.
the metro again… we did that lots too.
i just loved all the pigeons nestled up.
there it was.
the landmark of paris.
it didn’t even seem real.
the foggy wet day added to it’s mystic i think too.
okay… now for those of you that have seen national lampoons european vacation.
remember Clark didn’t want them to feel “out of place”… HA!!!!!!
my hubby had these made so… none of us would look “out of place”!
names and all… just like in the movie.
ha ha ha
we laughed OUR HEADS OFF!
those “french” faces again!
oh the fun!
laughing at ourselves… HARD!
and okay… i have to admit…
i was a bit disappointed that the tower was under work.
it had netting all over it.
still pretty… just didn’t get the picturesque photos i had hoped.
the tower was so big!
bigger than i thought… than i expected.
next we made the climb… walk… to Montmartre.
there are all these artists there that will do your sketch…
on the spot…
he would look at me… look back at the paper… look at me… look at the paper.
odd & cool all at the same time.
sophi was having her sketch done a couple people down.
i think he did a great job.
he even got the crinkle (wrinkle) between my eyes!
fifteen-ish minutes… and wah lah… personal sketch.
a treasure from our trip.
after we had those done…
another refreshment break… of course.
look how cute… this delivery truck.
this was at the top…
overlooking the city!
it was an amazing view.
there was a pole climber…
a band playing…
it was so neat.
we did manage to visit a few stores.
this was the ceiling in one of our favorites.
that night… i think… after dinner.
look at the guy in the window. ha!
our last day we went out to the Palace of Versailles.
the gardens went on… and on… and on.
you could literally spend all day there and more.
the tall trees… OH… LOVED them.
and the rows of trees.
our last night there…
toby brought us the most yummy… world famous… macaroons in the world!
perfection in your mouth.
such a treat!
our last night.
it was like a postcard.
the whole adventure actually.
did it really happen?
did we really manage to get away?
from our precious kids.
for eleven whole days.
we did it!
we REALLY did it!
some things i will remember most from our stop in paris…
the eiffel tower.
the outdoor cafes.
having our sketches done.
that view of the city.
our european adventure…
the whole thing…
what a BLESSING.
we will treasure always!
