riley & owlie…
campbell & piggie.

are they ALREADY day dreaming of being a bride!  YIKES!

little loves.
it sure was fun watching them.
they did the whole ring exchange thing & all.
notice the veil… that would be a tutu.
don’t you just love kids ingenuity!

wrapping the cabinets & play wedding_2
so… after the weddings and all.
yesterday i read this post from karla…
over at It’s The Little Things that make a house a home.
jumped out of my chair.
ran to my office.
i had it!
i had it!
i had some of the adhesive paper she was talking about!

let me back up a sec.
you see… i’m going NUTS over here.
we were in our last home in Colorado a year & a half…
QUICK…
TOO quick.
put SO much into that home.
love… time… moola… yadda yadda…
and then to move… after it was feeling like home.

well… here we are… knowing this is not our home… permanent home that is.
trying my darndest to keep it neutral…
not change anything…
you know… so when the time comes… it’s a blank canvas for potential buyers.
nuts i tell you…
i AM.
wanting to paint some walls… change some finishes… something.

when we purchased this home… everything was done...
all the way down to the knobs & pulls.
there are so many things we just LOVE about the house… adore… many things…
however… there are some details… finish choices…
that are not US… you know.
not bad by any means… just not what we would choose if we could.
ONE of the things that i would love to change in our kitchen… besides the pulls…
the cabinets… the sealed maple IS pretty… just not ME.

so……… there i was reading her post.
how she so cleverly used paper in her cabinets.
you’ll have to go see what i mean… so neat!
as a “backdrop” of sorts.

now… keeping in mind that she added pretty glass.
on my end…
just wanted a fun quick fix… you know temporary… and with little moola.
a fun little pick out of the “wahhhh i can’t paint” funk.
it was perfect!

popped those doors right off.
they can just go back up when we sell… or later if i decide.
come to think of it…
i popped the doors off our cabinets in Cypress too.
sure wish those cabinets would have had pretty paper too.

i decided on the narrow cabinets next to the stove.
to make a few of my favorite cookbooks handy…
and we’ll see what else might work up there as i get used to it.
maybe olive oils and such?

and like she said… it was SO EASY!
oh my word.
measure… cut… press press press………… stuck!
it was up!
what a fun way to add a bit of personality!
thanks karla for sharing your great idea!  SO NEAT!

now my mind is racing… WHERE else can i stick this stuff.

it does remind me lots of contact paper.
a bit less sticky…
but similar.
i know there is some really fun contact paper at Target.
i can imagine it would work too?.?.
the self adhesive paper… that karla used…that i had… is from Hallmark.
gift WRAPPING paper of all things!

oh and… i did mess up at one point…
just as an fyi.
the first piece i cut…
i should have put it up right away.
i tried to use it to measure the next one…
it lost it’s sticky.
i suppose in that case… some of my adhesive spray would’ve helped.
but temporary was on my mind.
so… i just measured & cut another.
easy enough.

now i know it’s not a HUGE change.
i realize that…
since i just did the narrow ones but…
it was FUN… EASY… and JUST what i needed.
you know?

so now when i’m over here on the other side of the great room…

IMG_7565
or i’m standing here…
cooking…
i can ENJOY!

IMG_7545
i just love the unexpected pop it gives!

and another great bonus…
the hubby & kids thought is was cool too!
love that!

who knows what this week will bring…
maybe gretel our dog will have a wedding… or…
maybe i’ll wrap gretel in some pretty paper.
it’s just monday… who knows.

all i know…
i’m rooting for LOTS of little things!
those little things sure add up don’t they…
to lots of GOOD !
